About Us

The New Leaf Co-op is a worker-run, vegetarian wholefood shop, specialising in selling a
wide range of unpackaged foods. We aim to promote local produce and local suppliers. All
of the fruit and veg we sell is certified organic. As a workers’ co-op, the business is run non-
hierarchically, and are allco-managers. The Co-operative is made up of six members, and
we’re all looking to a new face joining our dedicated, friendly team.

About You

Applicants must be able to work co-operatively and non-hierarchically, must have a critical
perspective on corporate-led food production systems and will ideally have previous
experience of working in grassroots projects. You should be interested in taking on all
aspects of running a growing small business including business administration and
development as well as sourcing and working on the shop floor.

About this position

The successful candidate will join the Co-op and take on their share of the wide variety of
tasks that work at TNLC entails. Like all members, they will work on the shop floor and be
responsible for managerial and business development roles. Training will be provided on all
shop admin systems. This is a demanding role with responsibility for a large and diverse
workload, with big challenges and big rewards.

The position is permanent. Work hours are an average of 30h per week. There are four regular shifts during the week made up of shop-floor work and administration/development work, 2 out of every 6 Saturdays, and our bi-weekly co-op meeting on alternate Wednesday mornings.


£8.25/ hour- with a view to raising this to a living wage (as set out by The Living Wage
Foundation) in due course. We aim to accommodate 6 weeks holiday, pro rata. Holiday pay
is paid monthly in proportion to hours worked that month.

The interviews will be held on Tuesday 30th May (maybe Wednesday 31st)
The start date is Monday 5th June (dependent on any notice period required at current workplace)
A minimum commitment of 2 years is highly desirable
